Irrecha of Oromo
Irrecha is a thanksgiving festival celebrated by the Oromo ethnic group, who gather to celebrate the end of the rainy season and welcome the beginning of the harvesting season. The celebration takes place near the riverbank or water and tree. Irreechaa is celebrated every year in September in Bishoftu Hora Harsadii or Lake Hora, the Oromo people gather on the banks in the thousands to celebrate. In 2019, Addis Ababa hold celebrations for the Irrecha for the first time at Meskel square.
