About Tour Package
A day excursion to lake Wenchi sits in the volcanic crater of mount Wonchi and is famed for its natural beauty and an old Ethiopian Orthodox Monastery. The Lake is a piece of paradise on earth owing to its breathtaking landscape and stunning scenic areas. You will have a short boat trip to the island and visit the church and then walk to the hot spring and to the natural fall and enjoy the stunning landscape and see the biodiversity that flourishes in this area. Late this afternoon, you will drive back to Addis Ababa. In the evening, you will attend the cultural restaurant for dinner and enjoy the really entertaining dancing of different Ethiopian ethnic groups.

EXCURSION TO WONCHI LAKE
Wonchi Lake is one of the incredible natural sites in Ethiopia and is famed for its green mountainous landscape, blue waters, lush valleys, natural hot springs, and pleasant weather. Located 155kms west of Addis Ababa, this is a place that has significant ecological, recreational, and aesthetical values for visitors. Wonchi Lake is situated at the base of an extinct volcano that erupted about 1000 years ago. The crater contains a large lake with small islands, hot mineral springs, waterfalls, amazing valleys, and farmland. It is called to be ‘‘the Switzerland of Africa” and with 3,450 meters above sea level, the Lake is also the highest volcano in Ethiopia. Because of its unique topography, Wonchi Lake is a habitat for different animals, plants, aquatic birds, and a number of indigenous forest trees, including Hagenia Abyssinica and Erica Arborea. Walk or use a horse ride on a 2.5-mile (4-km) trail to reach to the edge of the lake, through green fields and small villages. You will have a boat ride and visit an old orthodox monastery positioned on one of the lake islands. The monastery is believed to have been established by King Zerea Yaecob in the 15th century AD, and makes the spot more enticing and mesmerizing.
